Privacy Policy

MotivosAI is operated by Motivos LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company ("we," "us"). We respect your privacy. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain on purpose. If you join our waitlist, the only thing we collect is the email you give us; the sections below cover the MotivosAI application.
1. What we collect
Account info you give us (name, email, optional phone and date of birth), content you create (tasks, habits, journal entries, notes, messages), and basic usage analytics (which features are used, error reports — never the content of your entries).
2. How we use it
To provide and improve the service. To personalize your experience based on the preferences you've set. To send you notifications you've opted into (reminders, summaries). To process payments if you subscribe. To communicate with you about your account or important changes.
3. AI & third-party processing
AI-assisted features may send the specific text you ask us to process (for example, a message you want drafted or a goal description) to a third-party AI provider. We don't send your full task list, journal, or messages — only what's needed for the immediate request. AI providers are contractually prohibited from training on your data or retaining it beyond the immediate request.
4. Financial data & connected accounts
If you choose to connect a bank or financial account — to power budgeting and net-worth features — MotivosAI uses Plaid Inc. to make that connection. Connecting an account is optional. You enter your bank credentials directly with Plaid, so we never see or store them; we receive a secure access token and the financial data you authorize, such as account balances and transactions. We use that data only to provide the budgeting and net-worth features you asked for. It's encrypted at rest, the access token is held in a protected server-side vault, and we don't sell it or use it for advertising. Transaction history is kept on a rolling 24-month window. You can disconnect a financial account at any time, which revokes our access going forward. Your use of Plaid is also governed by Plaid's privacy policy at plaid.com/legal.
5. What we don't do
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't read your journal entries or messages. We don't use your content to train AI models.
6. Group & shared data
Content you share inside a Family or Team group is visible to other members of that group. We provide the technical means to share but don't independently access the content. If you remove yourself from a group, your future messages and shared items won't be visible to that group.
7. Children
We don't knowingly collect personal info from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). If a parent has added a child to a family group as a minor member, that child's content is treated with extra protection and is not used for analytics.
8. Data storage & security
Data is stored on encrypted servers. We use industry-standard security practices. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
9. Your rights
You can export all your data anytime in Settings → Data & Account. You can delete your account, which permanently removes your personal data within 30 days. If you're in the EU/UK, you have GDPR rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction, and portability. If you're in California, you have CCPA rights including the right to know what we collect and to delete it.
10. Cookies & local storage
We use local device storage to remember your preferences and keep you logged in. We don't use third-party advertising trackers. Essential cookies cannot be disabled because the app needs them to function.
11. Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. Deleted accounts: personal content removed within 30 days. Backups: rolled out within 90 days. Connected financial-account transaction history is kept on a rolling 24-month window. Legal-hold data may be retained longer where required by law.
12. International transfers
If you use MotivosAI outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US. We use standard contractual clauses and other safeguards to protect international transfers.
13. Changes to this policy
We'll notify you of material changes at least 30 days in advance. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy reflects the current version.
